Ringing the Salvation Army Bell
December 5, 2013

I rang the Salvation Army bell many years ago and really enjoyed the experience.  I thought it would be fun (and a teachable moment) for Connor's Tiger Scout pack to do the same.  Considering it was COLD and we were outside for two straight hours, Connor and the boys did very well.  The Salvation Army coordinator said the amount raised in a given hour has everything to do with the ringers.  I'm proud to say the boys brought in above-average (around $75/hr.) and I'm certain it was because they are all so cute.  A special thanks to Ed for bringing fun diversions (games and mustaches) for the boys!

First Grade Christmas Musical
December 11, 2014

Connor did a fabulous job in the first grade Christmas musical.  He was nervous but performed really well.  It was much more entertaining than last year's presentation and a perfect way to kick off the holidays!

Christmas Eve & Christmas Day
December 24-25, 2013

What a terrific Christmas celebration we had this year.

A few days before Christmas, I made Gail, Pat, Scott & Alex "From Michigan With Love" cookies (seen below), with hearts in all the places they have memories or people still here at "home."

We spent Christmas Eve with Grandma & Grandpa Lippowiths as well as Teri, Greg, and Joseph in Caro.  The drive up was majestic -- the trees were ice-coated and a soft, clean snow dusted everyting.  The landscape shimmered in the sun!  I don't think I remember a prettier Christmas.

Brad and I stayed up until 1:30 wrapping and preparing for Santa's visit.  Evidence of his visit came in the form of a bag left behind on the fireplace, a half-eaten sugar cookie (Santa's favorite) and drunk milk, his glasses, and a button that must have popped off of his coat.  Grandma & Grandpa McCann arrived Christmas morning to open gifts and have a delicious egg & sausage casserole Grandma prepared.  We all relaxed and watched a movie.  After they left, Brad, Connor, and I simply hung out and relaxed with our new gifts.  Perfect!
